Gooseberry Falls -Two Harbors, MN
A crowd pleaser of the North Shore, Gooseberry Falls is an easy hike that takes you on a loop around the upper, middle and lower falls. Visitors can view the river and the way it flows into Lake Superior from numerous spots along the winding trail. If you are going to stop anywhere, Gooseberry Falls is a place you don’t want to miss.
Tettegouche State Park – Silver Bay, Minnesota
Tettegouche State Park is the place to go for overlooks that feature incredible views of Lake Superior, superb birdwatching, challenging rock climbing and finally, breathtaking waterfalls. The park has two popular waterfalls called the High Falls and the Illgen Falls. Both within a short hiking distance of one another, Illegan Falls is a 40 foot cascade which flows to High Falls 70 foot waterfall. Although High Falls is a favorite amongst most hikers, check them both off your list while visiting the park for an unforgettable day!
Temperance River – Schroeder, Minnesota
The Temperance River State Park has a hiking trail that loops around the falls. This 10 to 15 drop river gorge is a stunning stop along the North Shore. It is said that the Temperance River got its name because it use to flow so deeply that it washed out debris when flowing into Lake Superior.
Highway 61 – All along the north shore
When Waterfall Season is at its peak, you’ll see fleeting waterfalls at every turn. Take a leisurely drive up Highway 61, and experience this annual “blooming” of waterfalls for yourself.
