Experience Minnesota’s Playground

Situated in a beautiful setting, these vacation homes take full advantage of the unique natural features the site offers. From capturing breathtaking dawn to dusk views of Lake Superior horizons and the amazing colors of every season along the North Shore. The fresh lake breezes and the wash of waves rushing to shore will help you remember where you are––and forget what you left behind.

Your vacation home is within easy reach of activities to suit every mood for every member of the family, during every season.

The hiking opportunities in this area are outstanding. The Superior Hiking Trail is an impressive 205-mile trail that ranks among the best in the U.S.––it is a must for serious hikers. If you’re accustomed to connecting with nature in an urban setting, you will be amazed by the variety of trails that wander through woods, across cliffs, and next to streams. Hiking could become a new career as you cover nature’s highways across Minnesota’s north country. Within easy distance of your home, you’ll discover hundreds of miles of marked trails within State Parks including: Tettegouche, Split Rock Lighthouse, and Gooseberry Falls State Parks, and others located in the Sawtooth Mountains, Lutsen and the Gunflint Trail.

One of the most popular and scenic destinations in Minnesota is the North Shore of Lake Superior. In fact, Highway 61 along the shore has been designated as an "All-American Road".

The development of the new, paved Gitchi-Gami Trail gives cyclists and hikers a safe corridor to explore this scenic route. It will eventually run for 86 miles, from Two Harbors to Grand Marais, and travels through the beautiful birch and aspen forest of Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. Though most of the Gitchi-Gami Trail is fairly level, the section near the Split Rock Lighthouse is more adventurous, with some steep hills and curves. All of the trail segments parallel bustling Highway 61 for at least part of the way, but the rewards are the terrific views of Lake Superior, the wooded hills of the Sawtooth Mountains, the colorful wildflowers along the trail, and the more secluded loops through the forest.

Make the most of those warm summer days that last into the evening. In addition to swimming, sailing, biking, picnics and bonfires, you can scout dozens of local craft fairs, band concerts, community festivals and Fourth of July celebrations from Duluth to Canada.

Watch––or run––Grandma’s Marathon, one of the most popular road races in the nation. It’s more than just a race––it’s more like a glorious week long celebration of summer.

You and your kayak will also get a fantastic workout in the North Shore waters that feed the Big Lake. Kayakers of all abilities can explore the rushing waters of sparkling rivers, creeks and streams at nearby launch points, including access out your back door! We’ll provide a map so you can get started on one of the most popular attractions of life on the North Shore.

During winter and early spring, the whole family will enjoy alpine skiing at Spirit Mountain and Lutsen Mountains––two of the most highly rated ski facilities in the Upper Midwest.     Strap on cross country skis or snowshoes for an “over the river and through the woods” experience on any of the areas 87 groomed trails, including trails in area State Parks and local communities. Some are even lit at night, and all are accessible with a Great Minnesota Ski Pass.

It is easy to enjoy a full-day ride on the many North Shore snowmobile trails. Some offer magnificent views of Lake Superior. Your home offers direct access to the State Trails allowing you the option of exploring the woods all day or quick excursions throughout the day, with time to warm up with some hot cocoa.

Whether you and yours prefer to spend time in the woods, on the water, or around the town, you will enjoy all the benefits of an amazing home base.
